ARCHIVE – The Language Diary Challenge

The Language Diary Challenge is a place for all language learners to practice and share their journey within the language community and meet some great people along the way!

Any language, any format, any subjects are welcome. So, get involved by posting a picture or video and write something in the language you are learning.

How it works:

1. Follow us on Instagram (@languagediarychallenge and @discover_fluency)

2. Post something in the language you are learning. Any language, any format, any subject.

3. Use #languagediarychallenge on your posts

Bonus – Add a comment,  like someone else’s post and tag a language learning friend!. Share the love!

Make sure that your profile is set to public, then we can all see your amazing work. There will even be a chance of being featured on the page too!

There is also an exclusive Facebook group you can get involved in.

If you miss a day, don’t worry! Just do as much as you can!

As an added bonus there will be a selection of prizes up for grabs from some of the awesome people and companies in the language learning industry.

Previous prizes have included stationery bundles, calendars from Irregular Endings, a free language on uTalk, premium membership to LingQ and many more!

A little background…

Hi, I’m Sam and I LOVE languages. English teacher, language coach and all round language lover. I’ve been writing the blog Discover Fluency for years and sharing my passion for language with as many people as I can.

Enjoying the wanderlust lifestyle travelling around Iceland

I have been running this amazing language learning challenge since 2019, originally created by Katie from Joy of Languages.

If you are struggling or in need of a little inspiration then why not try some of the prompts below to help get your language learning back on track…

#mondaymotivation – Think about what is motivating you this week to keep learning your new language. A new challenge you want to overcome or something new you are doing to try.

#tuesdaythoughts  – What are you thinking about? Maybe, it’s what you want to eat for dinner tonight? Or that Netflix series you can’t wait to binge at the weekend or that subjunctive voice that you can’t get your head around. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it.

#wednesdaywisdom – Share those pearls of wisdom. Your favourite saying, a proverb in that language or simply an idea that just popped into your head. Wisdom can come from the most unlikely places!

#throwbackthursday –  Think about something that happened to you in the past. Good, bad or ugly… it’s all a great way of practicing your past tenses and sharing a little about yourself.

#fridayforecast – Get those crystal balls out and gaze into the future. Think about what will change and tell us all about it.

#studysaturday / #studysunday – The weekend is time to kick back, relax and do a little study. Whether you are hitting those grammar books or just getting stuck in the YouTube black hole, why not share it with the community. Maybe someone else is doing the same!

1. What if I’m a complete beginner? No problem, anyone can take part! Even if you write a single word or basic sentence, it’s all part of your language learning journey.

2. What if I’m learning multiple languages? Then, it’s up to you! You can choose which or how many languages you want to include.

3. What happens if I miss a day? Don’t worry! Sometimes life just gets in the way, so try to do as much as you can!
